The Cottages at Romar was originally planned as a hotel development that was slated to feature 500 hotel rooms on the Gulf of Mexico. Instead, the Orange Beach area will receive 29 beach-front cottages in a gated community. The community features ten homes directly on the Gulf of Mexico that, in addition to access to the large community pool, feature a sundeck with a smaller pool in the back. The community pool will have twelve homes surrounding it and then additional seven cottages will be available beyond those. Gulf Front: $150,000+
Gulf View: $70,000-$120,000+

The large zero-entry community pool is surrounded by a large sundeck with lounge chairs. A poolside community bathhouse is available for residents to use. There is a large poolside fire pit that is perfect for hanging out around at night. There are several boardwalks that lead directly down to the Gulf of Mexico, the largest of which has outdoor beach showers and a pavilion where you can watch the waves or enjoy a picnic. The grounds in this community are beautiful landscaped with a strong tropical vibe, fitting for the traditional island-style cottages and houses here.
Currently the Cottages at Romar are selling lots. The Gulf-front lots are $695,000 while poolside lots are $359,000 and cottage lots are $210,000. The developers are building some to sell but prefer for the buyer to build on their own home. Interested buyers who do not want to handle the construction can have the developers build for them. Construction cost is estimated at $130-$150 per square foot depending on the house and personal preference.
