Alabama's Eastern Shore on Mobile Bay

Eastern Shore is an expansive community on the eastern shore of Mobile Bay. On the other side of the Bay is the larger city of Mobile, Alabama. Eastern Shore comprises three different zip codes and the larger towns of Fairhope (zip code 36532), Daphne (zip code 36526), and Spanish Fort (zip code 36527). In 2010, the combined population of those three zip codes was 67,501. That number has grown immensely and will likely continue to grow over the next few years. In 2010, the combined number of households was 27,363 and that number, too, has grown by the thousands and will continue to do so.
Eastern Shore is in Baldwin County, which boasts one of the best education systems in the entire state of Alabama. The schools in Fairhope, Daphne, and Spanish Fort receive high ratings from those who actually attended them or who sent their children there. These communities do not have a high volume of property or violent crimes. Fairhope, in particular, falls well below the national average. These are highly family-friendly communities with a healthy mixture of both new and old subdivisions and numerous lots for those who want to build their own house in the Eastern Shore area. There are also numerous golf course communities throughout Eastern Shore that are a popular choice among people looking to buy a house here.
Eastern Shore has enjoyed a good deal of economic and commercial growth along with its boom in population. The Eastern Shore Centre, located in Spanish Fort just across the road from the Timbercreek Golf course, is just one of many projects that helped spur on commercial growth in this area. Currently, there are other projects going on in Coastal Alabama (such as the Coastal Alabama Center for Educational Excellence) that are expected to greatly improve quality of life and educational options for residents of Eastern Shore and surrounding cities.
The weather along Eastern Shore is typically hot during the summer, warm throughout the winter, and with above average rainfall. This area is vulnerable to hurricanes and tropical storms due to its close proximity to the Gulf of Mexico. Other than that, natural disasters are rare and not something to be horribly concerned about. Overall, this is a wonderful community for families of all shapes and sizes.

The Eastern Shore of Mobile Bay is widely known for being one of the most beautiful areas in Alabama. Less than an hour away from the Gulf of Mexico, Eastern Shore is full of lush greenery and meandering tributaries that cut through many of the communities in the area. Although the communities in Eastern Shore are growing quickly, they maintain a distinctive small town feel with a rural setting. Fairhope, Spanish Fort, and Daphne are three of the most popular and quickest growing areas in Eastern Shore, each of which is within easy driving distance of downtown Mobile and the Gulf of Mexico. Thousands of people have fallen in love with the area and, with a friendly atmosphere and wide variety of things to do, it’s easy to see why. more

Fishing enthusiasts have something special in store for them when they choose to live in the Eastern Shore area. A natural phenomenon known as a jubilee occurs in the Mobile Bay nearly every summer. Every once in a while, before dawn during the hotter months, an upward movement of oxygen in the bay forces bottom-dwelling fish and crustaceans to the surface and anyone with a bucket or a net has the opportunity to catch pounds and pounds of fish or crabs or shrimps.
When you’re looking for the perfect place to start a home and a family or a quiet community to retire to after the kids have grown up, the Eastern Shore area is ideal.

Other Great Alabama Coastal Areas

It's hard to argue with the sheer beauty of the Alabama Gulf Coast.  Known for its beautiful beaches, this coastal area also features some of the state's best golf courses and is a popular spot for sport fishing.  A huge billfish tournament, the Blue Marlin Grand Championship leaves out of the Wharf in Orange Beach annually.  Many don't know how great the scuba diving is along the Alabama Gulf Coast.  The water is not quite as clear as other parts of the world, but it's the content of the area that causes such a great scuba environment.  For example, diving the Oriskany - a 911 feet aircraft carrier and one of the largest artificial reefs in the world - is considered world-class scuba.  The carrier is an Essex-class Navy vessel and sits on the floor of the gulf at 212 feet of water and 22 miles South of Pensacola, FL.  These are just a few examples of some of the great opportunities waiting for residents and vacationers to the Alabama Gulf Coast.  Looking for condos?  We've included Gulf Shores condos for sale with links atop each condo's sales page to view recently SOLD info and a quick search with all condos alphabetically ordered for quick access with the actual closed date and closed price.  We've also made a single page showing all beach front condo revenues to make comparing easy.  Also featured on many pages is exclusive aerial imagery offering unparalleled perspective of the South Alabama coast.  Users can easily see what surrounds the condo they're researching.  Interactive Google maps also help with perspective and directions and each sales page has the physical address linked to Google maps.  The same info can be found for all Orange Beach AL condos for sale.  Finally, for those interested in newer condos, we keep a current and accurate pre-construction condos for sale page with condos spanning all the way from Gulf Shores, AL to Panama City Beach, FL.
