Gulf Shores Real Estate Quick Links
Baldwin County is the second fastest-growing county in the entire state of Alabama, and Gulf Shores, the southernmost city in the state, is one of the fastest-growing cities. In 2000, the population of Gulf Shores was 5,044; in 2010, that exploded by 93.1% (that's 9,741 residents in 2010). Considering the first census in Gulf Shores was in 1960 and tallied only 356 residents, this city has come a very long way in a short amount of time. The economy in Gulf Shores heavily relies on tourism. Every year, thousands of visitors flock to Gulf Shores to spend their summer enjoying the sunshine and beautiful white-sand beaches that the city is famous for. Numerous Gulf-front condos and other lagoon-front luxury condos line Beach Boulevard, one of the biggest roads in the city. In addition to the condominiums, there are a number of beachfront and lagoon-front homes in Gulf Shores. There are also a few golf course homes in the area. A little under half (40.6%) of the houses in Gulf Shores were built between 2000 and 2009, which is another testament to how quickly the city has grown in the past decade or so. Due to the fast growth of the city, job growth is projected to increase by 36.8% over the next ten years, making this city a great opportunity for individuals and families who are just starting out and are trying to choose where to buy their first home. The median home price in Gulf Shores is $166,800.
Outdoor activities are a pivotal part of life in Gulf Shores. The city is home to Kiva Dunes and Craft Farms, two of the top-rated golf courses in Alabama. Gulf State Park and Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge are both protected areas where residents enjoy camping, hiking, fishing, and other outdoor activities. Gulf Shores has also recently started renovating many areas of the city, including public beaches, as part of the Small Town, Big Beach Vision 2025 for Sustainability. This project will not just benefit the public beach, but the educational systems, healthcare system, and residential areas. As of right now, the city is home to an elementary, middle, and high school as well as Faulkner State Community College. Another part of the Small Town, Big Beach Vision 2025 for Sustainability, the Coastal Alabama Center for Educational Excellence will provide better educational opportunities to residents.
Gulf Shores and Orange Beach, Alabama share 32 miles of crystal-white beaches bordering the Gulf of Mexico as well as a number of lakes, bays, and Perdido Pass, which connects Florida Point to Alabama Point. Lining the coast in both Orange Beach and Gulf Shores are tens-of-thousands of condos. The condos are located throughout allowing guests and residents to enjoy the unbeatable views of the Gulf of Mexico and surrounding areas. To the west is Fort Morgan, a relatively undeveloped area known for being an appealing escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. MORE

The expansive Gulf State Park is a popular destination, with campgrounds and a popular fishing pier that stretches out into the Gulf of Mexico. The area of Orange Beach and Gulf Shores is wildly popular with boat owners as well as fishermen and women. The warm waters both near the shore and miles off the coast are teeming with many different species of fish, perfect to either catch-and-release or to bring home for dinner. If you don’t fish, there are still ample opportunities to try out the fresh seafood on many of the dockside restaurants. Residents of Gulf Shores and Orange Beach will tell you that being out on the water is the ideal way to spend your weekend, and with so many interesting places to sail around in both the Gulf and numerous bayous and bays, it’s not hard to see why.
