Bon Secour is an unincorporated community on the eastern shore of Baldwin County's Bon Secour Bay. The estimated population of Bon Secour was 743 in 2010. Originally a 19th-century French fishing village, Bon Secour is still an important fishing town on Alabama's Gulf Coast. Today, Bon Secour looks like something out of a Southern Gothic novel. Spanish moss piled on top of large oak trees, a peaceful waterway, and abundant natural wildlife truly add to the charm of the area. The infamous BP oil spill in 2010 just about wiped out the economy in Bon Secour, which relies heavily on fishing and shrimping. However, it has since bounced back and would make an ideal place to build a home for those who prefer to live in an area that's not swamped with tourists like the nearby towns of Gulf Shores and Orange Beach. more
