destin-homes-aerialDestin, Florida is an award-winning beach destination known for its vibrant coastal community, powder-white sands, and stunning crystal blue waters which resemble the Caribbean.  Nicknamed “The World’s Luckiest Fishing Village” the town boasts world-class sport fishing and holds the largest fishing fleet in Florida with an advantageous location of just 12 miles from the 100-Fathom Curve - a famous hot spot for deep-sea fishing.  Before Destin gained popularity as a top vacation haven, it was originally established as a small fishing village in the mid-1800s by a Connecticut fishing captain named Leonard Destin, the city's "Founding Father" and for which the town is named after.  As the area became more well-known, the town was developed with numerous Destin condominiums and has since experienced accelerated growth in population and its economy.
Belonging to the communities of Florida’s renowned Emerald Coast, the city of Destin is located on a peninsula between the Gulf of Mexico and Choctawhatchee Bay.  The town’s famous white beaches originate from the Appalachian Mountains and consist of finely-ground quartz crystal giving it a sugar-like appearance.  Destin is not only known for its beaches and fishing, but a hit among other attractions including fine dining and shopping, championship golf courses, entertainment venues, and lush nature preserves.  Travel a little further east on Scenic Route 30-A and explore the charming beach towns of South Walton such as WaterSound, Rosemary Beach, and Seaside.  CondoInvestment.com provides helpful search features for finding homes and condos along the Gulf of the Mexico, Destin Harbor, Choctawatchee Bay, or in golf course & resort communities.

Similarities Along the Gulf Coast

On the Gulf Coast, one of the few differences between Florida and Alabama, regarding real estate, is property tax.  In Florida, property tax is higher than that of Alabama.  In Alabama, for a conventional purchase, property tax is around $335 per $100,000 and in Florida, taxes run about $1,400 per $100,000.  The differences is a much shorter list and much of Northwest Florida or the "Panhandle" is very similar to the coastal area of South Alabama - Gulf Shores and Orange Beach.  Both of these cities on the coast of Alabama are similar to Destin, Ft. Walton and Panama City Beach.  These are all drive-to vacation destinations with tourism accounting for the majority of their healthy economies.  All of these areas offer great deep sea fishing, championship golf courses and plenty of fun and exciting things to do for the entire family.  These areas are also growing rapidly creating great value in their respective real estate markets.  Gulf Shores condos for sale, for example, has been a hot commodity of late, just as Orange Beach condos for sale has.  The Alabama Gulf Coast is currently in a seller's market and have been since 2016.  While residential real estate is very similar, the intentions for these types of real estate is different.  While most people buy homes to hang on to for years and years, condos have a much shorter turnover.  Typically, a condo buyer will hold on to their condo for a much shorter time frame than that of home buyers.  While this may seem innocuous, it actually has great affects on the real estate market as a whole.  We've published detailed info for all of these markets for comparison-sake and to quickly research info for Gulf Shores homes and Orange Beach homes too.

We've published a great amount of information for the Gulf Shores and Orange Beach real estate markets including our own exclusive aerial imagery, recently SOLD details complete with the actual closed prices and closed dates, revenue info for rental properties and various info for the many festivals and events that take place on the Gulf Coast.  Please let us know if you have questions and find just about anything related to these areas on CondoInvestment.com.
