West Beach is a thin strip of land between Little Lagoon to the north and the Gulf of Mexico to the south. This is a beautiful and popular area, thanks in part to the number of condos that sit on Little Lagoon and offer boat slips to guests and residents, like Bel Sole and Mustique. Even those condos that are not directly on the Gulf of Mexico typically provide deeded beach access just across the street. Nature lovers favor this area because of the numerous opportunities for fishing in both Little Lagoon and the Gulf of Mexico and because its neighbor, the Fort Morgan peninsula, is home to a number of protected wildlife areas that have walkways and trails for visitors who want to see some of the birds, endangered species, or even a sea turtle nest. From the westernmost portion of West Beach, the historic site of the Fort Morgan military installation is just a quick drive west, as is the Kiva Dunes Resort & Golf Course.
