OWA Amusement Park in Foley AL

Visitors and residents in the Foley area will have already noticed that the construction on the new OWA amusement park has been making some impressive progress since the start of the year. The first phase of construction on the expansive family-friendly amusement park is nearly complete and some of the most exciting attractions planned for the area are nearly complete.

When completed, OWA (owa means "big water") will take up 520 acres of prime real estate right off the Foley Beach Express. Part of the first phase of construction includes an amusement park with over 20 rides and exciting attractions for visitors of all ages. Right next to the amusement park is a shopping and dining area that was inspired by traditional Southern towns, with a distinct downtown district and warehouse district and traditional Southern architecture. This area sits right next to a huge 14-acre lake surrounded by beautifully landscaped green areas where visitors can stretch out in the summer sun or enjoy listening to live music from the nearby 400-seat amphitheater. On the lake is a charming boathouse from which you can take a boat out onto the lake. Those who have seen the site recently may have noticed that they recently started installing the rides, landscaping, and are finishing construction on the shopping and dining districts. This phase of construction is nearly finished and the amusement park, lake, shopping, and dining areas are planned to open in May 2017.

The amusement park is just one small part of this huge project. There are plans for a waterpark, resort RV park, a condominium, and another hotel in addition to the Marriot TownePlace Suites which opens at the same time as the amusement park. Between these new attractions and the recent completion of the Foley Sports Tourism Complex, developers believe OWA will attract an additional one million visitors to the area.

OWA and the Foley Sports Tourism Complex sit right off the Foley Beach Express, which quickly takes visitors to and from the coastal communities of Gulf Shores and Orange Beach. Because the famous white-sand beaches continue to be the most popular attraction in Baldwin County, most growth on and near the beaches seems to be resigned to pre construction condos.  Commercial real estate development in Foley should continue to improve with local economic factors and small businesses helping one another.

And the area's largest commercial real estate development, OWA, promises to be a massive hit even before the waterpark and RV park open, attracting more people to the area who will be looking for places to stay, places to eat and more activities and attractions. It's a great time to beach at the beach!
